COMMONWEALTH GAMES COMING UP
Cory Newman, Room 15

The Commonwealth Games are coming up. The games will start on 23 July and finish on 3 August. Mr Harvey, of Room 15, got his class excited about the Games by making them do a quiz about them. They applied their prior knowledge for some questions, but for most questions they had to do some research. The games will be held in Glasgow, Scotland.
DESIGNS COMPLETED AND READY TO BE CHOSEN

Room 15’s Design Your Dream Classroom project is over. The work was handed in on Monday 30 June. One lucky student could potentially walk into  Room 15 on Monday 21 July  and find themselves in their dream classroom.

LITTER HUGE PROBLEM AROUND CENTRAL SCHOOL
Cory Newman, Room 15

Gisborne Central School is facing a litter problem on a massive scale. This is particularly bad around Rangi and Poutama.
To  help the school recover the Herald is urging both students, and staff to please do the following:
-Put their rubbish in the bin or put it in their lunchboxes and take it home; have less packaged foods or plastic snap - lock bags in their lunches and use reusable plastic containers instead.

Yuck! We need to see less of this, Gisborne Central School!

House Day coming up on Thursday! Remember to wear your colors, people! Good luck!!!

CLASSROOMS LOVE FIFA
Cory Newman, Room 15
The FIFA World Cup has gone viral at Gisborne Central School, with many classrooms hurrying to catch the latest match each day.
One teacher has even used it as a learning tool for Maths. Mr Harvey, of Room 15, gave his students multiplication problems about ticket money and stadium seats.
His students found them very challenging, but most finished them correctly, in the end. A few finished them, with incorrect answers, and 3 or 4 did not finish them at all.
NEW ZEALAND’S NEXT GENERATION OF DESIGNERS
Cory Newman, Room 15

In Room 15, the students have been doing lots of not so run - of - the - mill homework projects over the last two terms. A lot of them have involved designing something new.
A new wind powered vehicle and a new attraction for our town are just a few things they have designed. Their latest project involves designing their dream classroom. Good luck to them all!
CENTRAL C’s SPECIAL ASSEMBLY
Cory Newman, Room 15

A special  Central C assembly is to be held on Friday 4th July at midday. In order to fill up the boxes the Herald encourages all students, be they new entrants, or older students to earn C’s. Here are 4 ways to do just that:
1.Get caught by a teacher picking up litter.
2.Commit to an activity ( e.g chess club ) regularly.
3.Get caught by a teacher showing courage.
4. Get caught by a teacher  showing care towards someone.
